The serama is one of north americas newest variety of chicken. They can be super small making them the worlds smallest chicken. I myself have a hen that only weighs 175grams. That comes out to little over 6oz's. Making her alittle smaller than the northern bobwhite quail!! These beautiful serama were imported into the states in 2000 by Jerry Schexnayder. There is currently 3 size classes A class up to 12oz, B class up to 17oz and C class up to 20oz for roosters. A class up to 11oz, B class up to 15 oz and C class up to 17oz for hens. Serama are one of the few birds that don't breed true to color. Meaning you can take a Red rooster and a Red hen and get black chicks. You never know what color the chicks will be. I have covered alittle of the info. If you are interested in learning more visit the SCNA weblink located in the link page.
